The Gendarm Path is right outside the door

One of the special things about staying at Als Kloster is that the Gendarm Path runs right past our backyard. From the garden, a small path leads directly down to the route, so you can lace up your hiking boots and be on your way in a few minutes.

Some of our guests go on a short evening walk, while others spend several days experiencing the entire Gendarm Path. Whether you are for a single stage or the entire route, Als Kloster is a good starting point.

There are already some really good websites about the Gendarm Path and instead of repeating them, we have collected the links we recommend ourselves. Here you will find everything from route descriptions and maps to transport, luggage and good advice from other hikers.

Transportation between stages

The question we get most often is about transportation. How do you get back to the hotel? Where do you park? How do you get to the next stage?

The official site has gathered the different options in one place.

When you stay with us at Als Kloster

Als Kloster is a great place to recharge between stages. Here you can enjoy the peace, get a good night's sleep and gather new energy before continuing the trip.

  • We are happy to prepare a packed lunch so you have something good to take with you on today's hike.

  • After a long day on the trail, you can pamper your tired feet with a foot bath in the garden – with or without a glass of wine or a local beer.

  • Our outdoor showers with hot and cold water are a nice place to rinse off the day's kilometers.

  • In the evening you can sit back, enjoy a home-cooked dinner, sleep well and wake up ready for another day on the Gendarm Path.
