Discover Als by bike

Als is made for cycling holidays. Small country roads, coastal stretches, forests and cozy villages make it easy to experience the island at your own pace.

Als Kloster is a great place to recharge between the day's adventures. Here you live close to nature, and right outside the door you will find the Baltic Sea Route – one of Denmark's national cycle routes. From here you can cycle towards Sønderborg, Broagerland, Kegnæs or go on longer trips around Als.

There are already several really good websites about cycling in the area, and we have collected them below. At the same time, we make it easy for you to get going if you want to rent a bike during your stay.

Rent a bike – ready upon arrival

We collaborate with Vollerup2Hjul-Center, who will gladly deliver your bicycle directly to Als Kloster.

This means that the bike is ready when you arrive, and you can leave whenever it suits you.

12 local bike rides

Cykelforum Sønderborg has developed 12 different cycling tours, which together show some of the best the area has to offer.

The trips are between approximately 20 and 30 km – with one longer trip of 65 km – and primarily follow small roads through nature, villages and coastal landscapes.

The Baltic Sea Route

The Baltic Sea Route is one of Denmark's national cycle routes and passes right by Als Monastery.

The route follows the coast through some of the area's most beautiful landscapes and can be used both for longer cycling holidays and as inspiration for shorter day trips.

Back to Als Kloster

After a day on the bike, it's nice to come back to a place where the pace slows down a bit. Find a spot in the garden, enjoy the peace and quiet, and recharge for the next day's adventures.

  • Your bike can be safely stored under cover while you enjoy the evening.

  • Our outdoor showers are lovely after a day on the roads.

  • In the evening you can enjoy a home-cooked dinner, relax in the garden and sleep well before the next trip.

  • Before you drive on the next morning, we'd be happy to prepare a packed lunch so you have something good to take with you on the trip.
